ABOUT THE LEGISLATION
House Bill 2439
On June 14, 2019, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 2439 into law.
The legislation, which became effective on September 1, 2019, prohibits local municipalities from dictating which materials builders must use. It gives you the freedom to use any material, anywhere in the state of Texas, as long as the material is approved by a national model building code that has been adopted by your local government. Please reference the bill itself for details and exceptions.
